Python and Django folks, if you are attending Django Day Copenhagen on October 4th or PyCon NL on October 10th, please let me know!

Django Day Copenhagen (DjangoCPH)

We are a few days away from DjangoCPH, and I am excited to attend for the third time. While I was a speaker in the last two editions, this year, I will be there only as an attendee, and I am just as excited about it.

I have enjoyed Denmark ever since my parents took us there for vacation when I was young. The Django community is fantastic, so what better way to combine these than to travel there again?

(Granted, I was there last month to see the end of the Egypt exhibition at the Moesgaard Museum in Aarhus, but I usually do not get the opportunity to visit so often.)

DjangoCPH is special to me because it is smaller compared to other social days, but it is well-organized with good talks, and it feels like coming home to a living room full of lovely people. (The pastry is good too, because: Denmark.)

PyCon NL

I will also attend PyCon NL in Utrecht, which will be the first edition of this event.

Aside from exciting talks, it will be nice to meet new people away from the usual venues. As a bonus, two other members of the Django Accessibility Team will be there, and we do not often get to meet in person.

Utrecht is also one of my favorite cities in the country, so visiting is always exciting. To any attendee from outside the Netherlands: please take some time to stroll through the city; there is much to see.

I wonder how this conference differs from PyGrunn, the yearly Python conference in my hometown of Groningen. Having two big Python conferences close to home is a luxury.

Wrap-up

While energy-wise, it will be a challenge to do two all-day conferences and a lot of travel in between, I am looking forward to both conferences. Learning new things and meeting new people are always valuable at these events.

The freedom to do these things is one of the reasons why I became a freelancer, so it is nice to be able to do this now.

Let me know on Fosstodon or Linkedin if you will be at any of these venues!
